Case SQL Server for Skype for Business Enterprise Pool down with no backup RRS feed

  • I have case where SQL Server for hosting Enterprise Pool of Skype for Business Server down with no backup. Topology consists of 1 Enterprise Pool with 1 Front end server, 1 edge pool with 1 edge server, file stores CMS located on 1 file server, and 1 sql server. How do I move the database to the newly built SQL server?

  • Assuming SQL is dead and you have no backup, not even export-csuserdata or export-csconfiguration... you might be able to grab a copy of the CMS via replica: https://skype4b.uk/2015/09/30/skype-for-business-recover-your-deployment-from-a-deleted-or-corrupt-cms/

    I'd try to keep the same SQL name and instance name if you can instead, rebuild that server, and reinstall the databases using PowerShell or the deployment wizard.  Then reimport the CMS back in.  

    You're likely going to lose the user's contacts unless you have a backup of that from export-csuserdata or you've merged them into Exchange with Unified Contact Store.

  • If you have a complete backup of your database, you can restore the SQL databases.
