Is hyper-converged Storage Spaces Direct SQL 2016 cluster a supported scenario for a protected server? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am in the process of setting up and testing a hyper-converged 2 node SQL cluster.  I was burned a few months ago on a separate project when I found out that SCDPM doesn't support Cluster Shared Volumes for SQL after I moved a production system to it.  Since Storage Spaces Direct is built on CSVs, does that mean that SCDPM doesn't support it as well?  I assume that is the case.  If so, are there any other backup solutions (Azure Backup Manager or third-party) out there that do support SQL on CSVs and Storage Spaces Direct?
