How to Migrate Applications on XP build image to Pos Ready 2009? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I hope you can help. I have a Point of Sale Gold disk which contains the POS application and the XP operating system as an image. This image uses SysPrep to roll out this image to new tills. However as XP now has had its support ended I want to upgrade the Gold disk to Pos Ready 2009.

My issue is I still want the POS application from the old disk with the XP OS on it. Is there way to move the application only to POS ready 2009? I do not have the original setup files for the application.

    Many thanks

    James

  • It would be a lot of pick-and-shovel work to extract the applications, support libraries, and registry keys from the XP image. If you know what these are the process gets simpler:

    1. Install POSReady2009
    2. Add the applications
    3. Run Sysprep

Keep in mind that POSReady 2009 is tentative to go EOL in 2019 - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/product-lifecycles.aspx
