Vista Home Premium KSOD Severe Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • KSOD(blacK Screen Of Death)  occurred after a improper shutdown.
    Toshiba Satellite L45-S7423
    Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
    Order of Attempted Fixes
    1. KSOD comes up after startup as usual, with no hotkey funtions available"i.e. c+a+d, sticky keys, win+r"
    2. Run Startup repair comes back with "A removable device is installed, please remove and restart"  there is no removable installed.(Event Log only test failed)
    3. No Safe Mode, Safe Mode w/ CP, or System Restore points.
    4. Ran Diagnostics on Drive and Memory, both come back fine.
    5. Ran CHKDSK and it repaired a fontsub.dll file, still no fix.
    6. Attempted KSOD Event Log fixes, no progress.
    7. Attempted KSOD Registry fixes, no progress.
    8. Finally broke down and reformatted the drive(via the vista disk installation utility) after saving the data via slave drive on another box.
    9. Set to reinstall overnight, only to wake the next morning with the KSOD!
    10. Used Command Prompt to full reformat the drive, then set to install.
    11. After installation complete, KSOD remains.
    12. Shut down and reboot at KSOD and now it won't boot past progress bar or last booting file of safe mode.
    13. Just updated the BIOS and set to reformat again.
