System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager Update Rollup 9 RRS feed

  •  I have currently updated to System Center 2012 R2 "Data Protection Manager Update Rollup 9", after that I am facing an error of "out of date version" while connecting it through a "central console", when I tried to run the update package of central console on my client PC, I got an error window saying: "Installation failed with return value = 1642". Kindly assist ASAP.

  • I have found the solution:

    Following are the steps for upgrade:

    1. Download the update package from Microsoft website.
    2. Take backups of your Servers (DB & Console Server).
      • Four files will be included in the update package:
        1. Detectoid for System Center 2012 R2 - Data Protection Manager Server-all-dataprotectionmanager2012r2-kb3112306_430e8698473d270eaed14c2fb01518d15eb37926.exe
        2. Detectoid for System Center 2012 R2 - Data Protection Manager UI-all-dpmmanagementshell-kb3112306_4e9a6c7020deaa04c11f3a17dc308df934b28dcd.exe
        3. Detectoid for System Center 2012 R2 - Data Protection Manager UI-all-dpmmanagementshell-kb3112306_5a22884563527eded1ee10540f476d9fb9a078b6.exe
        4. Detectoid for System Center 2012 R2 - DPM Central Console Server-all-dpmcentralconsoleserver-kb3112306_fe5816fd383c0a25a555c1cfb57dabc4faa22e0a.exe

    1. Run the following setup on your DPM Server from the downloaded package:
      1. Detectoid for System Center 2012 R2 - Data Protection Manager Server-all-dataprotectionmanager2012r2-kb3112306_430e8698473d270eaed14c2fb01518d15eb37926.exe
    2. After successful completion, check the version has been updated in “Control Panel” & in “About DPM Tab” (which can be seen in the console).
    3. Then run the 2<sup>nd</sup>, 3<sup>rd</sup> & 4<sup>th</sup> file on the particular client PCs which are using the Central Console/Remote Administration for monitoring.
      • Troubleshooting:
        1. If found or face any error while using central console/remote administration, check the user rights on DPM DB and on SCOM.
