Microsoft Security Essentials uninstall failed cannot update, reinstall ,or uninstall

    Question

  • I attempted to temporarily uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials (Windows 7 Home) to clear possible interference with another security program. The uninstall did not completely remove MSE.  Now, it will not allow update, installation, or uninstall programs to run. It will not allow Administrator permissions to delete the remnants. All attempts to remove it following Forum procedures have failed. I just attempted to use psexec to obtain permissions to remove the antimalware pieces from the registry. it worked fine with the exception of the Microsoft Antimalware Service folder. Attempts to update permissions for those elements also failed. I have been trying every procedure I could find on the Forums, but even Sysinternals procedure failed. HELP.
