customize Project Pro 2016 installation with a server connexion RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    In order to deploy the Project Server 2016 desktop client Project Pro 2016 for all rich client users, I need to customize the setup of Project Pro, as a connected client to the production PWA instance. Meanwhile, I used the Office Customization tool https://config.office.com/ but this tool seems to only address non server options. How to deploy Project Pro 2016 with a PWA URL in Project Pro and an account for it ?

    Second question : at the launch of connected Project Pro, there is a check box to the user  meaning "should assignements in Project Pro include multiproject assignments (or only this project assignment). Can this box be already answered as a "No", in the configuration file of Project Pro ?

  • Hi,

    can you integrate some vbs script in your deployment? I am using the following, but ask users to run it on their own.

    Option Explicit
    Dim ProjObj
    Dim ProfileMissing
    Dim i
    Dim c_Server
    Dim c_Name

    Set ProjObj = CreateObject("msproject.application")

    ' https://xxx.yyy.zzz/pwa

    ' This is the server URL
    c_Server = "https://xxx.yyy.zzz/pwa"

    ' This is the display name
    c_Name = "Instance1"

    ProfileMissing = True

    For i = 1 To ProjObj.Profiles.Count
        If ProjObj.Profiles.Item(i).Server = c_Server Then
    	ProfileMissing = False
        End If
    Next

    If ProfileMissing = True Then
        ProjObj.Profiles.Add c_Name, c_Server
    End If

    For i = 1 To ProjObj.Profiles.Count
        If ProjObj.Profiles.Item(i).Name = c_Name Then
            ProjObj.Profiles.DefaultProfile = ProjObj.Profiles.Item(i)
        End If
    Next

    ' https://xxx.yyy.zzz/pwa2

    ' This is the server URL
    c_Server = "https://xxx.yyy.zzz/pwa2"

    ' This is the display name
    c_Name = "Instance2"

    ProfileMissing = True

    For i = 1 To ProjObj.Profiles.Count
        If ProjObj.Profiles.Item(i).Server = c_Server Then
    	ProfileMissing = False
        End If
    Next

    If ProfileMissing = True Then
        ProjObj.Profiles.Add c_Name, c_Server
    End If

    For i = 1 To ProjObj.Profiles.Count
        If ProjObj.Profiles.Item(i).Name = c_Name Then
            ProjObj.Profiles.DefaultProfile = ProjObj.Profiles.Item(i)
        End If
    Next

    ProjObj.Quit

    Set ProjObj=Nothing

    For your second question: so far I was not able to set "Load Summary Resource Assignments" automatically.

    Regards
    Barbara
