How to turn off automatic SQL DPM db backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • DPM Guys,

My DPM SQL db is located on another dedicated SQL server.

I see someone (it seems DPM) does an automatic SQL DPM backup to the system disk on SQL server inside MSSQL\BACKUP folder on disk C:\.

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup\

A huge backup file (20Gb) located on disk C:\.

I don't need this SQL backup at all, because we do storage snapshots for SQL disks.

Also we have alerts from our monitoring system, because no free space.

How to turn off that backup ?

I don't see anywhere how to configure DPM db backup.

I see a lot of SQL GUID jobs on SQL server, it seems the following job do that (by time):

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\DPM2012R2\SQLPrep\TriggerJob.exe 81b807a4-402b-4e6c-8448-9e5c83c29056 ad466cd8-d52f-4f7d-8bab-71fc5f84239f servername

    I read the following article:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/dpm/archive/2014/10/08/how-to-troubleshoot-scheduled-backup-job-failures-in-dpm-2012.aspx

But there is no answer to my question.

SQL backup of the huge sql db to the system disk is not a good solution.
