scanner problem HP Deskjet F380 ALL IN ONE PRINTER RRS feed

  • Question

  • Deskjet F380 All in one printer/scanner

I'm having problems using my Scanner

A message " An error occurred communciating with the scanning device"

The following is what I have tried,

1 Deleting software and reinstalling software.
2 Printer will scan using manual button on Printer
3 I am able to print documents
4 I have downloaded a patch but this did not fix the problem
5 Tried using printer faxes/Scanners and cameras to add device but only options were for HP Digital camera, no scanner option came up.
6 Also update software to latest edition.
7 Was on HP site and told to check BIN file for certain files which were their. Was able to open Scanner software but still got an error and could not scan.
8 Using the scanner diagnostic utility the following errors came up
    Registry error
I am using Windows XP Is it a problem with a setting on the computer

The registry is giving an error 019 code. Could a setting in XP be the problem

  • Hello,

    Thank for your post!

As this forum is for Windows Vista printing issues, the better support resource for Windows XP printing problem should be:

    (microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax)

    http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax&cat=en_US_ad4ca7d7-594e-4193-b6b0-7b6f00cf3fb0&lang=en&cr=US

I hope the issue can be fixed soon!

    well guys,

im actually using a MS vista notebook and having the same problem with the HP F380 AIO printer. i can perform print and copy but i was unable to scan using the HP solution center. it comes the error message.

"an error has occured communication with the scanning device. Please ensure that the scanning device is connected properly and try again."

Previously, i had the printer installed in my XP machine, it works fine. i can print and scan. this is the only printer which i installed in this notebook since i just got this notebook a week ago.

i tried installing the drivers. the installation was clean.

i can print but i cant scan the same error msg keeps poppin up.

im not so much of a computer person so pls advice. already asked HP tech support, the only advice they can give me is install the driver again or find the 3rd party help to resolve this matter.

pls mail me any helpful information regarding this problem.

    Thanks,

  • I eventually went back to a previous setting as I had upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 and I heard it causes a conflict with software used on HP printers. I'm currently using Explorer 6
