Two front-end sharepoint server and DPM 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are in the proccess of replacing our SharePoint 2010 front-end server (Virtual) with a physical one. And have noticed that when trying to create DPM 2012 protection group for the new server, I don't see SharePoint farm when I expand the server selection. Is that normal? I did enable SharePoint protection on the server. What's the best way to protect SharePoint with DPM 2012 while doing the migration. We only have one back-end SQL SharePoint server. I've read that you need only to protect only one front-end server in the same farm, is that correct?

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Just a quick update on this, just in case some goes through this. After removing the DPM agent from the old server, I was able to view SharePoint farm with no issues on the new physical server, create the protection group and continue the backup job. Like nothing happened :-)

    It's working good.
