  • What is the benefit of turning the windows feature on or off for: Microsoft .net framework 3.5.1 and which option below that should I choose, the windows communication foundation http activation or non-http activation. what exactly does that feature used for?

  • it has no benefit to disable it. The disadvantage is that you can't run .net 3.5 applications. Leave it as it is.

  • Regarding .NET Framework, please understand that some applications are developed based on it. Therefore, if you uninstall it from Windows Features, some applications may not work properly.

     

    Regarding Windows Communication Foundation, it is Microsoft’s unified programming model for building service-oriented applications. It enables developers to build secure, reliable, transacted solutions that integrate across platforms and interoperate with existing investments.

     

    If you are not going to build service-oriented applications, just leave the default settings in Windows Features with .NET Framework 3.5.1 checked.

     

    Otherwise, if you are interested in building service-oriented applications, you can post a thread on MSDN Forum for more assistance.
