Printer problems with Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased my Dell XPS 410 in April 2007 and it came with Windows Vista Home Premium. I had to buy a new printer, scanner, keyboard and mouse. The printer is an HP Photosmart D7160. I installed and it worked fine until about a month ago. I uninstalled the printer, and have been unable to re-install it. I've spent many hours online with Dell, HP and Firedog with no resolution. I've downloaded the latest HP software and when this didn't work, they sent me the lastest version on a CD, which also doesn't work. I get an error telling me I need to install windows update KB940199. When I download this update I get an error "your system doesn't support this update". I checked Windows Update on my computer and there are several updates that have failed, one dealt with DOT4USB. When I try to download these "Important" updates, the update fails with no real explanation. Anyone have any ideas?
