rtccab size increased by many folds RRS feed

  • Question

  • we have Lync 2010 with 4 FE servers. Yesterday there has been a significant growth in the size of Logs generated for RTCCAB1 database. from 2 Gb to 10 GB. From SQL end we can see Bulk insert queries were coming from one of FE server. Please someone can help to troubleshoot why the size grew so much. Didnot find anything in event viewer.

  • Hi Striker11,

What’s your Lync server version, Lync 2010, Lync 2013 or SFB server 2015?
What action did you do recently?
Did you do Mirroring for SQL server?

first thing to do is realize that we should have made a maintenance plan within SQL Server Management Studio from the get-go to keep our databases regularly backed up with a Full backup, and then a second maintenance plan to backup all the Transactions Logs, which would in turn truncate the logs, for details, please refer to the link below

Moreover, please try to collect the log of SQL server check if there are any helpful information.

  • It's Lync 2010. The SQL mirroring is configured. The issue was mainly sudden increase the T logs of RTCAB1 database. Which I think is address book database. It reached to 50 GB and normal size of DB is only 2-3 GB. On the SQL side the bulk insert query was coming from one of the Lync FE server.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

I have seen the similar situation, the issue is resolved by restarting SFB FE server, please try this method and check if the issue persists.
