Windows 7 Safe Mode won't support Office 2010? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I am in Safe Mode in Windows 7, and have to open a .doc or .txt file with Word, I start Word, a Microsoft Office splash screen appears, and a popup appears informing me that Microsoft Office 2010 cannot verify the license of my product and, after I click OK, it shuts down.

I log in to Safe Mode in Windows 7 with my usual ID and password, so, even if the Office installation was set to an individual user, I am that user.  Since it came pre-loaded on my Dell PC, I can't confirm that setting.

Is there a known issue, or work-around for this behavior?

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

Safe mode is using for diagnosing purposes and not to always work with it. Note that many applications are not compatible or are not able to function properly with this mode. So, I think that you issue is normal.

Please use Safe Mode only for diagnosing purposes. Example: You are no longer able to use the normal mode to logon.

  • It can also happen that a WIndows Update has rendered a working machine UNWORKING - as in my cae - but it can at least boot to safe mode. You then URGENTLY require to get to an email and go to run your program. And then this stupidity happens. Can you please advise HOW to stop OFFICE trying to install the license when in SAFE mode of necessity?
