Project Server 2010 Templates Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are currently struggling with the Project Server templates.

We created the template in Project Server 2010 then exported it as .wsp file.

We have added the template into the solutions gallery, activated it and then ran the command IISReset from an administrative CMD prompt.

When trying to apply this new template to a new site it fails and applies the default template.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

    Thanks

    Tom

  • HI Tom,

In Project Srver 2010, using of new project site template is little different then its predecessor (PS 2007). now there is a concept of EPT, and unless you associate the new site templatew with any of your EPT, it will keep on using the default template.

once you finish with the upload of new site template, go to project Web Access | Server Settings | Workflow and Project Detail Pages | Enterprise Project Types (newly created template should now appear in the dropdown list under Project Site Template), select your template and save the EPT.

now create project and your new project site will be based on this new template.

See this for complete process of creating a Project Site in Project SErver 2010: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/chrisfie/archive/2009/12/01/how-to-create-a-new-project-server-2010-site-template.aspx

    hope this helps.

  • Hi Tom,

Have you looked at Brian Smith's step by step guide  for customizing template article.
