Need to delete recent button on sharepoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • We recently added a new link to our sharepoint main page and now we see a 'recent' button on the left hand panel. Can I just delete this button under Site Settings/navigation? Will that cause any issues? Also, how can I prevent this from happening again?

    Thanks.

  • Hi, this Recent thing is actually very annoying. If you remove it, SharePoint re-adds it any time you add a new list or library. To ensure it's gone forever, you can do a little audience trick.

First, create a SharePoint group called "Hide Recent" and then remove yourself from the group so that it is empty. Then go to the navigation and set the audience for the Recent navigation as that Hide Recent group. Now it will still be there, but no one will see it.
