How to prevent reboot during windows 10 version 1703 upgrade

    Question

  • On one of my computers windows 10 version 1607 was upgraded to 1703 and needs to be rebooted to complete the download and installation.

The displayed message is:  The update is ready to install.  We need your help deciding when to restart so we can finish up.

This computer needs to be maintained with windows 10 1607 for troubleshooting another issue.

Schedule a date only has dates that go from today 4/12 to 4/18.

Will it keep allowing users to change the date indefinitely so there is no forced update?

What methods are available to keep it from updating after a boot?

What methods are available to keep it from updating if there is no reboot?

  • Hi,

According to your description, we could defer Windows 10 Creators Update using GP. Please check the link below to get information.

Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

Also based on my check, you could control the update in the settings.

Hope it will be helpful to you
