Interaction problem between Lync and Outlook and phone numbers problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • The following problems occurred while using Microsoft Lync 2013 (15.0.4420.1017) MSO (15.0.4420.1017) 32-bit and Microsoft Outlook 2013 (15.0.4420.1017) MSO (15.0.4420.1017) 32-bit (both are parts of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013).

    1. The first problem is with Outlook data file. If I run outlook with administrator right (Run as administrator) and run Lync, then this error will appear: "The file C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\username.ost is in use and cannot be accessed. Close any application that is using this file, and then try again. You might need to restart your computer".
    2. Another problem is that if I log in Lync under one account and find a contact I will see a list of his phone numbers. But if I log in Lync under another account and find the same contact, the list of this phone numbers may be different. Some phone options (work, mobile, etc.) may disappear or other may appear. Sometimes list of phone options may change without changing account.

  • Hi ,

Lets make sure that we clean up the cache and local files for Lync client and make a fresh login. Please do the following

Delete local cache files on client computer.

    Exit from the Lync client

    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\sip_UserName@Domain.com(Delete this folder)

    Registry Key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\UserName@Domain.com

Login again and Test the behaviour.

For Outlook issue , try to configure a new profile and check if that resolves the problem.

  • You should also use the latetst CU for the Client

There are also some fixes for showing no phone number on contacts.

  • Hi,

For different Lync accounts search same Lync account with different phone number result, you can also check if the be searched Lync account set different Privacy Relationship.

You can try to repair Office to test the issue as well.

    Best Regards
