Win7 64bit cold-start bluescreen RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    For a few months, i'm having trouble "cold-start" my windows.  ie, every time i turn on the computer, 80% of the time i'll get bluescreen while windows is loading.  usually it's around the time just before mouse pointer appear.  normally after reboot, windows will load fine(select load windows normally).  but sometimes it requires a 3rd reboot to get windows properly loaded.  i did some ram testing, take out my sound card, but couldn't figured out the problem.  windows event indicate the 'kernal-power' error.  can someone help?

    Update the SPTD driver which s part of Demon Tools.

    Update the BIOS:

    BiosVendor = Hewlett-Packard
    BiosVersion = 786F1 v01.28
    BiosReleaseDate = 02/26/2009
    SystemManufacturer = Hewlett-Packard
    SystemProductName = HP Compaq dc7800

    and if you still get crashes you may have a hardware issue (Motherboard, PSU). A workaround would be to add a second boot entry to the boot menu and select a 1minute wait time so that the hardware gets warmed up a bit. Also check your RAM with memtest86+.

  • You may have corrupt video graphics drivers.  Download and install the latest Windows 7 versions from the support web site manufacturer of your computer.  Or if you have a desktop computer with a NVIDIA graphics chipset, please see NVIDIA Driver Downloads.  If you happen to have an ATI graphics chipset, please see  ATI Driver Downloads.  Also see Intel  Driver Update Utility if you have an Intel graphics chipset.
