Transferring old Microsoft Works Database files to Windows 8

Question

I'm trying to transfer some Works Database files off a flash drive to my new PC with Windows 8 and I'm not sure what app I need to open this. I've tried using Word but that just comes up as a bunch of jibberishWednesday, August 21, 2013 7:55 PM

Have you successfully transfer the file on your PC?
What is the file extension of the file?
Here is the FAQs list related to the file extension: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/file-names-and-file-name-extensions-frequently-asked-questions
After verify the file extension, try to open the file according to appropriate program.
