I see em-but they don't connect RRS feed

    I have an XP system and an extreme on the Preview running 9879. The two nodes see each other but also can't connect even though they are on the same router. Why is this? I get minimal informatiin when I cant remote from one node to the other like calll your system manager. Oddly enough, that would be me. By the way, the XP node is a lenovo T61p. The xp node is SP3 with the absolute latest patches. Both can "see the internet."

    Hi Renee,

    It can be done.

    My suggestions for seamless home LAN networking (as with all versions of Windows):  

    • Turn off and completely disable "HomeGroup" networking.
    • Use traditional "workgroup" networking with "Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers".
    • Use the same workgroup name, username, and password on all systems.
    • Important:  Set up the permissions of the shares to allow Full Control by Administrators and your username.
