Resources timesheets remain empty RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I expected to do a small test on timesheet (PWA 2010 RTM) : I created a small project with 2 tasks and  3 resources (one of them is the administrator)

I saved and published the project (10 times)

The administrator can see his new assignments in his Timesheet.

The 2 other resources don't have any assignment in there Timesheets : only administrative time rows.

I deleted the timesheets and created them again several times.

In the Queue i have one failed job : delete timesheet ( correlation non blocking). I cannot delete this job.

    What could be the issue?

    Thanks

Here's what else I think you need to do.  Open this project and apply the Resource Usage view.  Temporarily insert the Assignment Owner field.  I'll bet that the administrator is still listed as the Assignment Owner on each task assignment.  Specify the correct assignment owner for each resource on each task assignment and republish the project.  I'll bet that solves the problem.  Let us know if this helps.

This is probably a stupid question, but are these two other resources set to Proposed in the Build Team dialog?  If so, that would explain why they don't see any tasks on their Timesheet page in PWA.  To resolve the problem, change their Booking value to Committed and then republish the project.  Let us know and we will try to help.

  • Hi Dale,

Thanks for this idea. In front of such strange phenomenon, there is no stupid question!

But definitively, I don't have any Proposed resource. L

    • Are the resources looking at the correct timesheet periods, where the tasks fall in?
    • On the Timesheet page, have the resource select Insert Row >> Add a task. If the popup pulls the project and tasks, then we know the assignments are atleast reaching the resource.
    • Are there any filters applied on Timesheet page?

You might want to check who is the Default Assignment Owner for each of these two resources in the Resource Center page in PWA.  Each resource should be his/her own Default Assignment Owner.  If not, change this and then reopen and republish the project in question.  Also, these two resources should delete their existing timesheets for this time period and recreate them.  Hope this helps.

  • Hi Prasana,

Yes, the timesheets periods are the right ones. In fact my small project started last Monday so it is easy to find the tasks.

When these resources  select Insert Row >> Add a task: they can see the project but not the summaries nor the elementary tasks. But they can create a new task in this project (NB: in other projects, they can see all the tasks hierarchy)

There is no active filter on these timesheet.

    :-( ??

    Thanks for trying!

  • Hi Dale,

You are right : the Default Assignment Owner for each of these two resources was the admistrator.

So I changed this setting, now they are there own Default Assignment Owner. I republished the projet, deleted the timeheets for this time period and then open the timesheets: they are still empty :-(((

    I run out of ideas...

You are more than welcome for the help, my friend.  For two minutes and 20 seconds, I hereby declare myself a computer genius.  After that, I return to being a humble human being who struggles with the intricacies of Project Server 2010, just like everyone else!  :)
