  • Hi,

For receive connector, the RequireTLS parameter specifies that all messages received by this connector require TLS transmission. By default the value is $false. When the RequireTLS parameter is set to $true, all messages received by this connector require TLS transmission. This will provide both confidentiality and authentication for email traffic.

You can run the following command to check the parameter:

    Get-receiveconnector | fl name,requiretls

For send connector, Microsoft Exchange 2013 has a feature called 'Opportunistic TLS' which is enabled by default upon installation, this feature means Exchange 2013 will try to negotiate a secured SSL/TLS session wherever possible and encrypt the message.

You can run the following command to check the parameter Ignorestarttls (the default value is false):

    Get-SendConnector "sendConnector"|fl IgnoreSTARTTLS
