Backup registrar and collocated mediation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I set up two Standard Edition Servers, one as a primary (let's call it STD1) and the other, not homing users, as secondary backup registrar. (let's call it STD2)

I created two SRV Records, one with priority 0 and the other with priority 5.

I have some questions to ask in order to complete the backup registrar configuration:

Do I have to set the STD1 as the backup registrar for STD2?

I have a PSTN Gateway defined on topology that is associated with STD1, the topology builder won't let me associate it to STD2, so, how do I accomplish voice high availability? If the STD1 goes down, If I make a call from Lync, it will not go through STD1 because it is down, and need to go through STD2's mediation server.

    Many thanks

  • Hi,

It is only possible to assign a IP Address to one mediation server, but you can use two different FQDN names with the same IP as workaround.

If you will use HA, you have to use the Enterprise Edition with two server and not the two standard server.
