DPM2012R2 - all system state backups failed (after MS july paches!?) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!
In the beginning of the week i just applyd all Microsoft updates to Server 2012R2 VM operating systems and also on a physical Server 2012R2 server with DPM 2012R2.
All system state backups with DPM are FAILED! Consistency check would not help.DPM has the latest Update rollup.
I have tried restarting DPM and VM´s - same problem. Exchange database  and Hyper-V VM snapshot backups are thankfully working.

I get error codes in DPM:

DPM cannot create a backup because Windows Server Backup (WSB) on the protected computer encountered an error (WSB Event ID: 546, WSB Error Code:  0x15D1E30). (ID 30229 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990ED0)

DPM cannot create a backup because Windows Server Backup (WSB) on the protected computer encountered an error (WSB Event ID: 546, WSB Error Code:  0x9CA740). (ID 30229 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990ED0)

If i look inside the VM operating system, Windows backup log:

The description for Event ID 19 from source Microsoft-Windows-Backup cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

  • Hi Joosep,

Try stopping the protection in the DPM-console for one of the affected servers(but choose Retain Protected Data).
Then configure the protection again and see if the systemstate backup-jobs works!

    Kind Regards

  • Tried it already, didnt help.

But now i think i found out the problem source - those DPM shares are missing!

In the registry, lanman server, reg.keys exist, but the shares itself are missing.

Does anybody know who to recreate them?
