  • Question

  • Hi All,

We have LYNC 2013 and Exchange 2013 in our current Infrastructure. As part of infrastructure migration, we are planning to migrate LYNC accounts and mail box to Cloud. To achieve this, we will setup a hybrid environment in the current infrastructure.

Also, we are planning to migrate LYNC accounts along with Exchange migration.

Can any one please give a solution in the below scenario.

Scenario: Mail box is migrated to Exchange Online, but LYNC account is not migrated to LYNC online.

In this scenario, will we be facing any issue in LYNC-Exchange integration. If so, what is the solution?

    Regards,

    Rewin

  • Hi Rewin,

There is a supported feature matrix for Lync / SfB On premise or online and Exchange on premise / online.

There are different features that are available when Lync is on premise and Exchange is online. It is supported to have Lync on premise and Exchange online but be aware of the feature differences.

Also the unified contact store (UCS) does not work with Lync on premise and Exchange online. It is listed as supported but ive seen issues before. It worth checking whether your using the Unified contact store already and if so i recommended rolling users back to using Lync as their contact store. If you move the users mailbox to Exchange Online with UCS enabled on premise you will see issues and to rollback ucs back you would need to move the mailbox back on premise then rollback ucs and then move the mailbox back.

Also there could be errors with Exchange autodiscover and you would need to setup oauth between Exchange online and lync on premises.

    A link on oauth below.
