Asked by:
Skype for bussiness duplicate contact after configure Exchange Hybrid

Question
-
Dear All,
Currently we have issues on Cloud users when they are using skype for bussiness local.
When they search name in Skype for bussiness client, the result show the user that we synced to cloud “jonh@adatum.com” instead of “jonh@adatum.local”.
This is the problem because “jonh@adatum.com” is just a contact on office 365. And we want to chat to real user “jonh@adatum.local” .
This issues happened after we configure hybrid and move some user to cloud.
I think this issues happened because Cloud users query contact to office 365.
Please kindly advise what we need to check more. Thank you so much!
Best Regards, Chinda Sam

Hi Chinda Sam,
Do you mean the online user can just search online account?
Do you try to type the whole SIP URI?
Do you try other accounts?
According to the official document, users from on-premises and online can communicate with each other.
Perhaps, you could check the Lync server event if there are any error message related to this isuue.

Hello,
did you created this contact ?
If yes, delete it, change the upn jhon@adatum.local to jhon@adatum.com.
and sync, that will correct create skype adresse book on O365.
and if not, change the upn too.

You may choose adatum.com as federated domain for O365 while configuring Hybrid wizard.
Jonh@adatum.local is not synced with cloud because it's a non routable domain.
You have to remove the contact name of Jonh@adatum.com from O365 and set Johns UPN to adatum.com from AD account to resolve this. Then you will be able to chat with real user “jonh@adatum.local” .
Please run IdFix to fix this issue,

Hello,
our on premise domain controller is : adatum.local
our skype for bussiness local is: adatum.local (jonh@adatum.local)
and on-premise exchange is configured with accepted domain: adatum.com. (jonh@adatum.com)
all users has changed to: adatum.com and synced to cloud.
the issues is cloud users when login to skype for bussiness local and search name, it show the contact from synced user on cloud (adatum.com). we need to type full uri (jonh@adatum.local) to chat with on-premise users.
So how could we make search name and display correct skype for bussiness users? thanks.

Hi Chinda Sam,
What do you mean “all users have changed to: adatum.com ” ?
Maybe this operation is the root cause.

Here I will provide a brief and temporary summary of this post.
<Issue Symptom>:
User environment: Skype for Business server on-premises and Office 365 hybrid.
After hybrid, moving some users to cloud.
When they search name in Skype for Bussiness client, the result shows the user that we synced to cloud “jonh@adatum.com” instead of “jonh@adatum.local”.
This is the problem because “jonh@adatum.com” is just a contact on office 365. And we want to chat to real user “jonh@adatum.local”.
<(Possible) Cause>:
It seems that cloud users query contact in Office 365.
<Troubleshooting Steps so far>:
Type the whole SIP URI in the search field. It works.
<Next Step>:
Check if the users from on-premises can communicate with online users.
