  • Question

  • Running DPM 2007 and constantly running out of space on the protected computer and this is affecting backups since change journal cannot be written to.

Is it possible change location of the change journal on the protected computer?

  • No, The change journal is an NTFS feature built into the filesystem and that location cannot be changed.

There is a maximum cap of just 300MB for this journal, and in a steady state (once maximum is achieved) it doesn't occupy extra space.

I doubt whether journal is making your volume to run out of space, you can check your journal size by running "fsutil usn queryjournal <volume>" on command prompt  and then converting the "Maximum Size" hex value to decimal.

    Thanks,
    Arun.
