Word doc page display varies by user/machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a word document docx that shows as 2 pages for about 7 users(Correct) and 3 pages for another 4.  I checked formating and they look to be identical.   It is full of tables.   On a previous post it was suggested that the printer driver was the cause, but wwe ruled that out as we have all users setup with same default pritner.   Any idea where else too look?  They are word 2010 and a few 2000.  All 2000 show as 2 page

    Any Ideas on this mystery

  • It sounds like the document is setup with Tracked Changes that have never been resolved. Some systems are setup to show Final and others to Show Original.

Also resolve those changes before the document corrupts. Tables and Tracked Changes don't play well together.

  • Different printer drivers is often the root cause of this problem.  Printing to the same printer, if you are using different versions of Windows will use different printer drivers. Even in the same version of windows, if they have different versions of the same printer driver, there could be differences.

Try installing a generic printer driver, like a 3rd party PDF generator, on all of the machines. See what happens.
