Hide the unwanted folders and files in SharePoint 2013 Document Library "Open with Explorer" RRS feed

    Hi,

    How to Hide the unwanted folders and files in SharePoint Document Library "Open with Explorer"

    I am getting some folders like "Images, lists, m, Shared Documents etc and files like default.aspx, newsfeed.aspx. I want to hide these files. Clients no need to see those files in "Open with Explorer".

    Keep in mind that Windows Explorer is a primitive tool and typically only used by site owners, power users and admins. It has so many issues that we frequently hide the ribbon button, or even prohibit its use.

    If the user is opening Windows Explorer from the ribbon button, then they should not see any of those files. The files you listed are from the root URL of the site. The user could open Windows Explorer at the library level, and then navigate up to get to the root of the site.

    If the user used Window Explorer's "Map network drive" feature, then ask them to map to the library, not to the site.

    and not to:

    http://yourServer/sites/yourSite/Shared Documents

    Hi Suresh,

    Can you uncheck the option to show hidden items in Window explorer?

    And try the open with explorer

    I can not ask my clients to do this activity explicitly. Is there any other way to hide by default?

    Are those file/folders visible in the library?

    Yes, those folders and files will not show in the site level. We can see them in explorer view or in sharepoint designer.

    Hi Suresh,

    what i wanted to know if  file n folders like "Images, lists, m, Shared Documents etc and files like default.aspx, newsfeed.aspx are upload to the same document library where you are doing open with explorer?

    If yes then you will see those file in open with explorer.

    Hi,

    You can hide this command like below:

    Or disable it based on user permission:
