Splitting task in a mixed envronment (MS Project 2007 and MS Project 2010) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have a mixed environment, MS Project 2007 and MS Project 2010.

All project are saved in 2007 version.

I work on a project in 2010 version and when I save it as 2007 version, sometimes the tasks who are completed to 100%  are split. So the entire project is delayed.

Does anyone have an idea what could cause this.

I suspect that the default levelling options, could cause this problem.

Thanks in advance for your response

  • I found the problem.
The problem was due to the fact that we use a French version and English version of a MS project.
In the MS Project French version use a different calendar then the english version.
    French version :
    35 hours/week
    9:00 to 18:00
Change default calendar to a north american calendar solve this problem.

  • I would first make sure you have SP2 and all cumulative updates installed in Project 2007 and then install teh newly released SP1 for Project 2010.

It may be safer to keep files in Project 2010 saved only in 2010 format, and only save a copy when needed in 2007 format.

  • I would add to Rod Gill and update Project Pro 2010 to SP1.

    Cheers!
