What's the KMS activation threshold for an environment with a mix of Windows 7/8/ server 2008/R2?

Answers

  • As titled, what the threshold here for this situation?

    For activating Windows products;

    If the KMSclient is a Windows Client OS (WinVista/7/8/10) the minimum_threshold is 25

    If the KMSclient is a Windows Server OS (2008/R2/2012/R2/2016) the minimum_threshold is 5

    * for activating Windows products, you can have a mixture/combination of Client/Server products/versions to reach the minimum_threshold *

    For activating Office products, the minimum_threshold is 5.

    * You can have a mixture of products within a version (eg Office ProfessionalPlus/Standard/Visio/Project) to reach minimum_threshold, but a mixture/combination/crossover of versions (eg 2010/2013/2016) does *not* contribute to meeting the minimum_threshold *

    Don [doesn't work for MSFT, and they're probably glad about that ;]
