  • Yeah you can't migrate OST files between profiles and apart from the difficulty in moving an OST file from an old profile to a new profile (which I'm sure doesn't even work) there are other reasons for not doing this.

This includes the fact that OST files can include shared mailbox and calendar data and can also be extremely large due to the inefficient way that Outlook stores data i.e if you delete an OST file and let Outlook re-create it, its often much, much smaller.

If your looking at doing this to try and save time and bandwith then honestly don't bother - your just wasting your time going down this path. Just let Outlook do what its designed to do with cached mode enabled.

    Cheers

  • Thanks for every one

I understand your explanation well .

I have one confusion only in this regards that if a company have 10,000 employee all are using win7 with office 2013 and through SCCM system admin run the TS for refresh to win 8.1 with office 2013 . Do the OST file migrated automatically or each employee need to download or need to be configured one by one .

  • The OST is not migrated. It will be recreated automatically when the new Outlook profile is created.

  • So,

I need to configure all the profile or directly it prompt me for the password after applying the TS .

  • Well no - you should have auto discover setup so that when a user starts Outlook it automatically creates the profile based on AD attributes.

  • Thanks very much Damon .

Exactly that is what the answer I am looking for. Although this "auto discover setup" is unknown for me .

But definitely I will check it out what and how to implement this in SCCM .

    Hope this works.

  • Autodiscover = Exchange

You need to post your question in that forum.
