  • Question

  • I have mixed setup of Hyper-v and Esxi servers, managed through SCVMM 2012 R2

I deployed SC App controller 2012 R2 for Self-service users. when I try to connect vms of hyper-v server - no problem.

but when try to access Vms hosted on esxi server it shows below mentioned error:-

Cannot connect: TypeError: Object doesn't support this property or method

Wait for installation of the ActiveX control to complete, and try again.

  • Hi Sir,

Did you try the following steps :

     manually installing the ActiveX control:

    1. Go to https://<your app controller server>/activex/vmmctlax_i386.cab
    2. Save the cab file
    3. Extract the vmmctlax.msi that is in the cab
    4. Run the vmmctlax.msi to install the ActiveX control

Once the install completes, try using App Controller to connect to the virtual machine console.

    Best Regards,

  • In addition to the note from Elton, you will also need to manually install the VMware client tools on the client computer.

However, please note that if this is a more recent version of ESXi then connecting to the console of VMs on a VMware Hypervisor is not supported in App Controller 2012 R2.

VMware changed the way console connections occurs and as a result App Controller is unable to call the VMware client to display the console connection.

As an alternative you can publish the VMM Console as a Remote Desktop App (RemoteApp). Console connection from the VMM Console does work.
