2010 SP1 and June CU issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Very wierd issue installing the SP1 and june CU.  After installing the binaries, I ran the config wizard.  It completed all steps.  I went into the upgrade / migration area of Central admin.  The updates were installed, the databases statuses are 'no action required', however the upgrade status showed failed and pointed to an error log.  I opened the error log and the errors pointed to the reporting services (which I did not install when installing sharepoint).  To make the system happy, I downloaded and installed the reporting services add-in and reran the configuration wizard.  It went through steps 4-9 and told me sucessful.  So, I would assume that everything is good.  However, when I go back to the migration / upgrade tab in CA, It still shows the failed status from the earier attempt.  No mention of the attempt that I just finished performing.  Also, there are no new log files or updates to the last log file.  So, It seems that the system just 'ignored' the 2nd configuration wizard run??  Anyone have any thoughts.  BTW, Project server and sharepoint seem to be working fine.

  • Hi,

I installed SP1 + June CU on my demo machine that included Reporting Services Integrated and didn't see any problems at all.

What was the actual error you saw in the logs?

  • HI There,

You have not perhaps Migrated from a previous version, or another environment that had Reporting Services installled. A while ago i had a similar issue, and it was due to an upgrade from 2003 to 2007.

  • It is a fresh install.  Attached is the error section from the upgrade log.  It points to the sql reporting integration add on which was not installed.  I did howerer download and install the add on and then rerun the wizard.  While, in central admin, the upgrade status is failed,  the database and the software are on the right versions and the functionality of SP1 is present.

  • I received this error in one of my testing case to deploy SP1 + June CU. This client never had Reporting services integrated with sharepoint before and even for PS 2010, it wasn't turned on or setup.

It happened on App server. In my test I continued the SP wizard on web server then and things seems to be normal as for the patch deployment is concerned.
