Bug Submission: Data Deduplication not available on Windows Server 2012 Essentials

General discussion
-
I have created a bug report on Connect to have Data Deduplication added to Windows Server 2012 Essentials. Here is the link for it. I also realize that due to Microsoft's shortsightedness in handling the flow of information from the public of this public beta, some users cannot access that link at this point in time (even if they are on Connect). If you cannot access it, here is a copy of the description that I put in my Connect submission:
Data Deduplication - a role/service that is part of Windows Server 2012 Standard and up - is not available on Windows Server 2012 Essentials. It cannot be enabled at all (through the Dashboard, Server Manager, or PowerShell). While it may not be necessary to include setup for it in the Dashboard, I think it should at least be configurable in the underlying OS tools (Server Manager and PowerShell).
If you would like to see it enabled on WS2012E and can see the post on Connect, please vote it up over there. However, if you would like to see it enabled on WS2012E, have access to Connect, and still cannot see that link, please say so in this thread. I will post a link to this thread in my Connect submission so that any Microsoft employees that look at it will know if there are any Connect users that would like to see Data Deduplication on WS2012E, but were unable to vote for it because the submission isn't visible to everyone (at least at this time).
Thanks!

in both 'home use' and '1st server business' (two primary design markets) it is quite likely there will be data duplication on the network, due to lack of 'organisation' of the data.
De-duplication could be expected to be more useful for these type of implementations than it is in a more structured (Enterprise?) environment.

I do not have access to the page, but would like to see it implemented. Also, would like to see WSUS implemented.

For the users who posted here that they would like Data Deduplication enabled (and couldn't see it on Connect), Microsoft closed my submission and marked it as "Postponed". Here is their response:

Hi, kariya21,
Thank you for this feedback. Data Deduplication is a feature in Windows Server 2012 Standard, and it is a business decision to remove it from the Windows Server 2012 Essentials SKU. I'll postpone this feedback, and when we're planning for the future updates, we could re-consider this.
Thanks again,

Thanks for the update. However, the answer reminds me of something I learned when I was 7 years old; when my mother said "maybe" it really meant "no." Since it was a "business decision" don't look for it to be re-addressed regardless of "we could reconsider" as that is just another way of saying "maybe" which really means "no."

I just went to add this role onto a 2012 Foundation Server, and it's not available there either.

I think dedup should be available on all 2012 servers. To exclude it is a pretty stupid decision, when more and more data goes on SSDs and the quad cores are only single digit busy.
