Cannot Install Vista on Asus Laptop (A8JC) RRS feed

  • Question

  • It restarts once boot from DVD and goes on forever if kept booting from DVD. I have also tried installing in XP first but once restart, it gets into infinite reboot without even loading windows.

I have flashed in the latest bios and formated the hard disk before installing Vista.

Vista DVD is from Microsoft (Beta 2) not download version.

    System Specification

    Centrino Duo T2300

    Ge Force Go 7300

    1GB DDR2 RAM

    80 GB HDD

  • Have you tried disabling any advanced features in the BIOS?  It sounds as if something in the BIOS is preventing install from proceeding...

I am moving this post to the Setup group so it will get more responses...

  • Hello,

Problems here for me with Build 5472.5 from Technet Subscription. Burned many dvd with different speeds but i always get a bluescreen 0x-7e. acpi.sys is involved. My laptop is the Asus A6JC.

    Centrino Duo T2300

    1Gb Ram

    GeForceGo 7300

    80Gb Hdd

I dont have this problem with Build 5384 (some issues about aero but setup works great)

Bios is updated but i cant change memory timing, shadowing etc since is not permitted. No Usb pheriphericals are attached. No mouse. No network cable. But i keep getting this bluescreen.

    Any suggestion ?

    Thanks,

    Stefano

  • I was having the same "reboot" problem but I just ran the 211 bios update onto my brand new A8JC and the install of the 5600 build of Vista worked like a dream :)

  • I am having the same problem. I was trying to install windows 7 on my XP A8JC laptop. I run setup and laptop now keeps restarting at BIOS. Does anyone know how I can upgrade to latest BIOS and will that solve the problem? If so, please provide me a link to the BIOS download. Thanks
