  • The certificate auth component will just replace the NTLM authentication mechanism. So yes, unfortunately the ports will be the same.

    One of the ways we've worked around the large range of RPC ports used when crossing a firewall boundary is to limit the number of RPC ports open to DPM and the protected server(/s) by modifying the RPC port range on the DPM server to a defined range rather than all high ports. Not the best or most elegant solution but helps when a firewall doesn't support the RPC endpoint mapper.
