Debian 8.7 CPU performance issue on Hyper-V 2012 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Friends,

I have migrated Debian 8.7 from physical server to on Windows Hyper-V 2012 R2.

The physical and virtual servers resource are the same, 12 core, 48 gb RAM, but Debian server performance is very slow on virtual and CPU utilization are always 90%.

I have check host server (hyper-v), it is okay, and load is not high.

Linux Integration Service is installed on Debian, but I have following issue:

     dmesg  |grep hv_

hv_vmbus: CPU offlining is not supported by hypervisor

    Please support.

  • Hi

It seem that some cpu core are sent offline by the performance profile on your system
Please make sure that you set Maximum Performance in the hyper-v bios profile and in windows

  • On Debian 8.7 I would recommend using the backports kernel as a lot of work we've put into the driver does not get backported to the 3.16 in Debian 8.
