Prefer bugtracking system RRS feed

  • Question

  • What is prefered bugtracking system by Microsoft? Recently we installed Project Server, but this rather intended for designing and building project.

The bugtracking system must have a web interface so that our clients could insert bugs.

  • MCP,

I think we need some more clarification on your requirement. Since Microsoft Project Server or client is not specifically designed for bug tracking system, it can be used though. Are you trying to submit bug related to specific MS product  to Microsoft or something else.

Note : Project Online is for Project Professional online version , for web interface you need to have Project Server.

  • Thank you for answer.

I intend to use Project Server to submits bugs for our systems. I have one problem though (which also applies to tasks): when I create, let's say 60 tasks, with duration 50minutes each, and then use "Auto schedule' option, it schedules all of them on one day, even though 30*50min = 50hours. How can I fix it? When I insert task with duration >=1d, everythings fine.

And second question. Typical scenario: I create task, developer marks it as completed, I approve this task via Approval Center. However when I enter projects->My Project and locate row in the table representing this task, it has value of 0% in 'Completed' column. Do I have to always click 'Close to Updates' on this task to be shown correctly in tasks table?

  • Thanks for the clarification, I will test first scenario as soon as I can.

For second scenario , after accepting task update you need to publish the project plan to sync the data

  • Use the CONNECT.MICROSOFT.COM to report bugs to Microsoft.  It's under the Microsof Office area.  Project is under that product group.
