Custom scope to search a view RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

      I have a SharePoint 2007 environment.

Created a document library with a view. The view performs a contains filter on a column.

Is it possible to create a custom search scope to search only this view?

Currently items use the default Document content type, so not sure if creating a new content type and associating my items is the only way to go.

  • Hi,
I understand that you want to
search a library view. You can create a custom content source that points just
to your list. Then you create a scope that points to just that content

    1. Open central administration.
    2. Open the SSP.
    3. CLick Search Administration.
    4. CLick Content Sources
    5. Create a new content source of type web site with the URL pointing to the
      AllItems.aspx page of the library.
    6. Click Scopes.
    7. Create a new scope that points to the new content source with a rule.
    8. Do an full crawl on the content source.
    9. Open your site, click site actions->Site settings.
    10. Click Search scopes.
    11. Click the "search dropdown" display group link.
    12. Check the scope name to include in the display group.
