Windows 7 MC "Music Library" icon is corrupted RRS feed

  • Question

  • Just noticed that the icon for "Music Library" on the Music Media Center menu is corrupted (very pixellated so most of the image is a blur). Is there a way to overwrite the image or fix it in some way to restore it to its former glory?

  • Have you tried to purge the icon cache?

Open Windows Explorer, and configure your Folder Options > Views to show Hidden / System Files. Next go to C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local folder and delete the hidden IconCache.db file. Reboot. This action will purge and rebuild the icon cache

  • Thanks for the advice. Followed the instructions, unfortunately it didn't solve the problem as the icon is still corrupted. Perhaps that cache is for other icons. I found reference to another cache here C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\eHome called ehthumbs_vista.db but that didn't seem to do anything either.

Looks like a windows restore possibly followed by repair and last option reinstall is on the horizon, all for one icon! It's frustrating as I'm sure there must be a file somewhere such as the one you suggested that stores these icons but no one seems to know.
