Migrate NIS to AD DS Windows Server 2012 R2

    Question

  • I have Linux servers using NIS and want to migrate to AD so that I can manage users from AD. Also NIS is not very secure. Now IDMU for AD DS has been deprecated, what is the best way to migrate NIS to AD? Do I have to use third party tools ?

    I would appreciate if experts here could point me to the right direction.

    Thanks,

  • Yes,it's now unavaible on Server 2016,but if you already cconfigured with Server 2012,The attributes will remain part of your Active Directory setup.

    Also you can check for "dell Migration Manager for Active Directory" but i didn't try this on server 2016,;

  • Identity Management for UNIX is deprecated in  Windows Server 2012 R2 and completely removed from Windows Sever 2016 I believe.
