22Gb Registry File! Please Help!!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Whilst wondering where all my hard drive space had disappeared to I stumbled upon a file that is 22Gb and growing named hklmSW.reg in the c:\Windows folder of vista x64. I am itching to get rid of this file, however as it is in the Windows folder I don't know if it is safe to do so, does anybody have any information on the file, eg. what it does and can I safetly delete it? Also I am assuming that that file is not meant to be that size so does anybody have any clue as to how it grew so large, virus possibly??  Thanks!

  • I recommend you to check computer viruses

it is not registy file registry is generally stored Windows\system32\config also registry files can not be removed while windows is open

22GB is extremely much for example if I install 3000 programs it does not grow like this
