Install a DP on a server behind NAT RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I'm trying to set up a distribution point on a server that is behind a NAT.

During the setup in distrmgr.log I see the following error (among others) ERROR DPConnection::ConnectWMI() - Failed to connect to  server.fqdn. error = 0x80070776

After some investigations I found out that when manually connecting to remote WMI on the DP with the primary server account I get the error "Objct exporter specified was not found", after googling it, it seems to be a NAT related issue. (http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7008964)

So my question is does someone has some advises / good tips / a solution for installing a dp on a behind-a-nat-server ? (apart from adding a non nated IP to the host file of my server)

    Best regards,

    Mickael PONSOT

  • The site server must be able to establish a connection to the DP. By definition, unless that server is exposed through the NAT, then there is no way for any system to establish a connection to it -- that's simply how NATing works. This is all networking specific and not ConfigMgr specific though.
