APP CRASH, Win 7 x64, 4G Memory, IE9, Laptop. 336 programs affected!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • APP CRASH, Win 7 x64, 4G Memory, IE9, Laptop. 336 programs affected!!

Please anyone, is there a fix for this? I was in FireFox, and my whole page sort of flushed, and then I was flooded with errors, mainly involving the ntdll.dll ver 6.1.7600.16559, over and over again. Ive ran all antivirus programs, and antispyware, and come up with nothing. Thought for sure I had a virus. AV is Avast free. I have Scanned the disk, defragged, run in safe mode to do AV and Antispyware again. Nothing. Cant use computer every program has the error that the program has stopped working. Going online to find answers does nothing. Ive run as administator, and I truely do not not what else to do. HiJack This does not show anything new, compared to monthly runs of the program. There are other dlls that are affected too, but not nearly as much as the ntdll.dll. Before this never had one problem. 3 month old laptop. I see this problem occurs alot. Microsoft we NEED A FIX! Any ideas or suggestions would so much be appreciated. Help me fix this, and I owe you dinner, no matter where you live.

  • I had a similar issue this week, and finally deinstalled Avast. This program had an update recently that does not like the rest of my PC setup, almost no program started anymore. I did a full reinstall, and at some point had the issue again.

Stopping Avast does not help, but only deinstalling. Maybe it is worth a try, I use now Security Essentials for the moment, and everything is fine, not one error in several hours.

  • HEY!!!! IT WORKS :)

    THANKS UNBEKANNTER!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually after reading what Unbekaater said about Avast, I remember this occured right on my birthday, which means it was Jan 15th. An update was run that day. So I went to the Avast forums tonight, to see if other complaints were logged. There were quite a few. I did not uninstall avast, but followed thier advice for a work around: Disable Behaviour. I did however download MS Security Essential, just in case!

    http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=69973.0

You go into the Control Panal/Programs and Features. Click Uninstall Avast Antivirus/Change, disable the Behavior section. Wah-la. all problems gone after that. I can now uninstall any program, and install new programs. My IE8 now has all its tool bars showing, and remembers my preferences. All my Browsers are working now too, and best of all I can open and use any program I want to. Its been one heck of a time for me untill now.

Tomorrow I will log my complaint on the Avast forum too. Will play with computer tonight ;)

Spread the word. There are lots of people going grey over these AppCrash errors.

Thanks again for sharing your experience with the Unbekannter, and thanks to you Andre for trying to help me. I was crazed at the time!

  • You should check your RAM with memtest86+ and your HDD with chkdsk C: /r /f .

  • Thank you. I will try those two things and get back to you. Just have to run out and buy some CD's. Only have DVD's at the moment.

BTW, no errors at all when computer run in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking!! I will try disabling half of my services, and start up entries. If no errors, will continue to add a few in hopes of finding an offending app or three.

Thanks so much for your suggestions.

  • Hi Andre,

Finally got those CD's, and booted from Memtest86+. I ran 4 passes in total, and no errors we found. It did a lot of moving things around, bot zero errors. Also no errors testing HD with Run: chkdsk C: /r /f . No disc errors either.

These APPCRASH errors occur mainly at start up, and then again when any program is opened after the Werfault's Error Notices are closed, and when a new program is installed. I have to go into Safe Mode with Networking to open any new program or any Browser. The only program that works error free is IE8, however it hangs sometimes with the same error. I unstalled Fire Fox, because the error occured while using it, cleaned out all traces and downloaded a newer version. Of couse it fixed nothing!!  I feel like my ntdll.dll, and others are corrupt. What do you think? I literally cant use my computer unless I'm in safe mode.

Here is a list of just some of the errors that occur:
