Exchange delay to sending email RRS feed

  • Dear Sir


    we have exchange 2010 SP1 installed on virtual Machine with windows server 2008 R2 we face a problem all the emails sent isdelayed until to send from exchange up to 6 hours , please help me to solve this problem .....

  • Not enough information.

    Do the messages show in the queues in Queue Viewer?
    What else is on the machine?

    Are you sending email directly or using a smart host?

    Does this affect internal and external email, or just one, inbound or just outbound?

  • Not much info; at this point when this occurs run the mail flow troubleshooter and post results. EMC, Toolbox, mail flow troubleshooter.

  • Dear Simon greeting ,,, all the message it stayed on the Queue up to 3 hours, and we send the message direct from outlook and any email come from outside stayed in the Quese, and regarding the machine requirement memory : 24 G.B CPU : AMD 6128, 2.0 GHz Regarding ,,,

    How much free space do you have on the drive where the SMTP queues are located?  Their default location is:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\TransportRoles\data\Queue

    we have free space 40 GB and this the location for SMTP :

    Do you have any antivirus, antispam software or firewall?

    1) Have excluded the exchange folders from antivirus?

    2) Are using any smart host for mailflow?

    3) did you create DNS Record for mail exchanger (MX Record)?

    4) Any error msgs in queue viewer if messages are waiting for 3 hrs time?

  • What's likely happening is mail is going to either a bad send connector at times whether load balancing or preferance based and failing. Check all your send connectors and make sure you have valid smarthost (if using one) and source servers point to valid CAS servers. If you can't figure it out, recreate your send connectors.
