Is viewstate encryption supported in sharepoint 2007? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there, I need to determine whether viewstate encryption is supported with SharePoint Server 2007.

     We had the following values set within the web.config file for a sharepoint site:

    <pages viewStateEncryptionMode="Always" enableSessionState="false" enableViewState="true" enableViewStateMac="true" validateRequest="false" pageParserFilterType="Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationRuntime.SPPageParserFilter, Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" asyncTimeout="7">

     Whilst this hasn’t caused any issues since it was originally set back in November 2010, it appears to prevent audit reports from being created.

    The error reported is “invalid viewstate” - removing the viewStateEncryptionMode attribute resolves the issue but I would like to know whether the property is supported.

  • Hi Charlotte,

    Viewstate encryption should be supported in the SharePoint 2007, you can try to use the value “Auto” and check again.
