  • Hello,

I am new to Hyper-v but long time VMware user. Basically the company I now work for is undergoing an infrastructure refresh and the plan is to go with 2x Physical HP hosts with local storage.

    1. Can Hyper-V be used as the hypervisor on both hosts and use the local storage to enable High Availability for VMs the same as using SAN storage? or do you have to use VSA on top of the hypervisor to create a virtual SAN? I ask this as I plan to have both hosts in different buildings on site for redundancy. I a host goes down I want no downtime for the VMs.

    2. Could the answer to Q1 be Hyper-v replica? I am not sure if that is the same as HA or a different feature all together?

    3. Would a Fail Over Cluster be the answer to what I am trying to achieve and again will this work with locally attached storage?

    thank you
