SP3 Blue Screen of Death RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and tried to apply SP3, but it crashes with a BSOD after either hitting the 'Next' or 'Test' button on the Authentication page.  I'm the admin and installer of this instance of SQL so there's no good reason.  Any ideas?

  • Which authentication are you using ? Could you try using 'Local Admin' ?

  • Ajmer, that was the problem.  After I installed XP SP3 I was able to install SQL Server SP3.  It's sad that microsoft forces the XP upgrade that way.
